Well I can't tell you how much we all enjoyed our May meeting! We were so lucky to be given a fun and informative talk about gin and it's production by David from local business Cabin Pressure Spirits.

Set up in the garden shed in St Leonard's Road, Horsham just before COVID, David's business has steadily grown from the humble out building to a purpose built unit and now on to sharing premises with another local producer The Custom Spirit Company who visited us a while back with their delicious rum blends.

Fortunately David brought a wide selection of his gins for us to taste as well as a rum blend and a delicious coffee liquer. So after explaining a little about what it is and how it is made we started tasting.

First up was Horsham Spirit Gin, desribed as a celebration of our marvellous hometown! The label features their own artwork of the Horsham Causeway, and David told us that they make a donation to Horsham district's charities for every bottle sold

Then Horsham Serpent Gin. Legend has it that Horsham’s dragon was slain during the 6th century, yet many years later a ‘strange and monstrous serpent’ was seen again in St Leonards forest. David explained that this gin was developed as a collaboration with Horsham local produce shop and café, Crates Local Aromatic botanicals include pink peppercorn and chilli, with just a hint of orange. It was nice and spicy!

We then tasted Cabin Pressure's first ever gin, a low temperature vacuum distilled gin with natural flavours and a subtle sweetness.

David had also brought with him some other gins made in collaboration with other local businesses such as Leonardslee (Botanical Garden Gin) and the Kissingate Brewery (Black Cherry Gin). And their Cold Brew Coffee liqueur made with beans sourced by the Horsham Coffee Roaster.

Another few sips of Ltd Edition Rhubarb Gin, Ltd Edition Sussex Quince Gin, Ltd Edition Sussex Sloe and Bullace Gin and Caribbean Golden Rum and we were decidedly glowing! Needless to say we all went home with a smile on our faces!

Some merry Bombshells!

In other news, we collected another haul for Horsham Matters' food bank.
